Dear Friends of the Allegheny Valley YMCA:
My name is Mike Newell, and I am serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Allegheny Valley YMCA. I joined the staff team here on May 1st, 2016 and have been humbled by the ways you all have welcomed me as a part of the family. I feel like my YMCA journey has officially come full circle now, because the first time I experienced the Y was when my parents enrolled me in swimming lessons at the Allegheny Valley YMCA facility in Tarentum as a preschooler. Some things have definitely changed since that time, but our cause remains the same – the Y is here to strengthen the foundations of community.
It is such a pleasure working for the Y and seeing all the ways that the YMCA mission comes to life in our programs and throughout our facility on a daily basis. The Y is where kids build confidence through achieving personal goals in our swimming lessons. It is a place that active older adults come together to share in sport, exercise and socialize with one another. It is a place where Mom & Dad can focus on their personal health, while knowing their children are keeping active in a youth sport class running in the gym. The Y is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y is for all.
Thank you for being a part of our Y. If you have feedback or suggestions on how we can better serve you or the community, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your ideas. You can reach me directly via email or by phone at 724-295-9400.
